Claim: "Other countries are finally paying their fair share."

NATO members have been increasing their defense spending since 2014, when each member pledged to dedicate 2 percent of its G.D.P. to its own defense by 2024. Although Trump’s insistence might have helped accelerate the process, it is clear that member’s annual defense spending as a share of G.D.P. has been steadily increasing for years.
